Hello everyone,

Thanks to suggestion of ElderLyons10 I decided to add in every vault my own story in order to bring more background as well as inspire GMs for their own games. Here you go:

Due to cruel experiments, the inhabitants of Vault 10 became morbidly obese. The only upside to their condition was that they required very little, if any, water to survive. However, their immense size rendered them almost immobile, and when the notorious Raider Band attacked the vault, the dwellers could do little to defend themselves. Unable to wield conventional weapons because of their swollen fingers, and incapable of running or hiding, they were massacred by the raiders. Cannibalism was common among the raiders, and after slaughtering the dwellers, they even resorted to eating them.
Despite the chaos, the raiders were unable to breach the innermost part of the vault, where the Seer’s office and correction facilities were located. Thanks to a backup fusion generator, the G.E.C.K. room remained untouched. The Seer, realizing the hopelessness of the situation after hearing the slaughter outside, chose to take his own life, sealing the G.E.C.K. room permanently with his password.
Unaware of the full story, the players join forces with the NCR to defeat the Raider Band, eventually succeeding. Once the NCR takes control of Vault 10, they gain access to the inner sections and discover the unused G.E.C.K. Using it, they cleanse the surrounding area and establish a new settlement called Vault Town. The transformation took six months, but the results were extraordinary. When the players return, they find a thriving town with some of the most beautiful trees they've ever seen in the wasteland. As a reward for their help in building the town, the players are granted a lifetime entry permit. The small BoS bunker outside the vault, which was found after clearing the raider base, remained sealed since none of the NCR experts could find a way to open it. Until one day, a very talented hacker (player) managed to open the door...

Excellent work! Very detailed, and the resolution, while resulting in some large files, is great for close in combats! As a suggestion for folks, if you have a decent graphics program, you can do some home brew resizing of the files to get them smaller. You'll lose out on some of the resolution, but the gain in file size might be worth it for you.

On another note, at the current size, what's the scale for these? That is, how many pixels is a five foot square (or hex)?

Thanks for the great work!

Morgan

PS. I'd also toss in my vote for other terrains, like winter. There's a Fallout adventure called "Winter of Atom" that would benefit greatly from some good wintery maps.

Thanks a lot for your amazing comment my friend. Yes unfortunately the tech is not developed yet for us to have wonderful resolutions with small sizes. Webp format doesn't work due to high res and Jpeg is the smallest format I could find losing little bit of quality. Png format is 3 times bigger but the quality difference doesn't worth.

About the tile sizes, it varies in every VTT program but you can calculate roughly mid size maps should be 50x50 and large ones 75x75. Very rarely I make crazy 100x100 maps as well. You can understand which one is which from their file size honestly. When this doesn't help, I'm trying to make 1 tile the size of a "chair" in the map and it mostly works :)

And finally you're right, I'm receiving some good deal of Nuclear Winter map requests but the thing is I don't have winter assets :( once I'm able to find some I'll immediately start making them.

A bit of hype, next pack will present abandoned battleships which some of them might even be functional!

Thanks again buddy, I really appreciated your words!

Yeah, I found that out. WebP is great and gives good compression, but the resolution limit makes it difficult for larger maps. I've had some luck with splitting the larger maps into quarters. I've then uploaded them to my VTT of choice (Foundry) and then put them together once uploaded. You might also check to see if you can use zero loss JPG format. You still get decent compression, but you don't get the little pixel artifacts that show up when you zoom in. Anyways, just suggestions. Keep up the great art regardless!

thanks Morgan. I'll definitely check zero loss JPG. My teachings of computer science is fighting  in me since "compress" and "loss" are always taught as a package to us 😂 but I believe with the help of AI we will have crazy things very soon.

I love the maps, and just got the bundle for a VTT integration. Id like to see tile sets, and individual assets that can be added for extra flavor. Many VTT applications layer images so it does add value.

Hey buddy, thanks a lot for the good word. I'm acquiring the assets through licensing them out of Patreon. My main resource is LORE, you can find him in Patreon. He's the best out there 👍🏼

Hello! I just bought the bundle for your wasteland maps. Do you plan on adding any forest or winter maps to your collection for GMs who want to use a setting outside of a desert? Thank you very much!

i would love to however I can't find assets for Nuclear Winter or forests that fits post-apocalyptic scenes. The assets I found are mostly looking like fantasy maps of D&D. But that doesn't mean I won't try! Thanks for the inspiration. Once I finish my next pack I'll try some snowy themes, I promise!

Thank you so much! I'm actually trying to GM a game of Fallout set in Washington State during Nuclear Winter which is why I ask haha

Oh yeah, when you get around to making snowy/winter battlemaps, may I suggest making settlement maps? Thank you once again!

sure thing! I hope I can find some winter assets!

So I just bought the full fallout/wasteland bundle for my VTT campaign next week. They are all amazing! However I am wondering why they are all so MASSIVE in size? Like especially this one vault 10. 300MB? I can't possibly use that as is. My players would have to wait for the graphic to load for 30 minutes. So now I have to downsample all of these to something reasonable. Am I missing something easy? I'm new to all this so might not know the trick.

Hey buddy. They are massive because there are many people which requests "Printable" sizes. What I'm doing in my games is to cut the locations into scenes or as you said downsizing them.

I'm trying to provide the highest possible resolution for my supporters and this is the downside of HD JPEG formats.

I'm still researching if I can find a better compressed format without losing the quality. I tried PNG and they were over 1 GB :D

Gotcha that's fine. I really like the whole bundle ... all 4GB! You definitely do the highest quality work for the cheapest price, so keep it up if it is working for ya! Just know that future packs ... I would gladly buy a lower resolution :-) My HD space is really bad and it's all because of TT RPGs.

Thanks a lot my friend. I'll keep in mind and try to make lower resolution versions of each map in the future. When I find time I can update also newest map packs with lower res so you can download them for free. I'll update you from this comment section so keep an eye.

About the pricing, I'm happy as long as my maps are used in games and people enjoys. I'm not trying to get rich but I want to keep this wheel turning so I can make more for people. Thanks for your awesome feedback!

One possibility is the .webp format? I import most of my stuff into FoundryVTT with that format, using TheRipper93's Media Optimizer module, and it's been working fairly well for me. I know this is late, but thought I'd mention it!

I tried webb format but unfortunately it can only work with smaller maps (less than 50x50 tiles) any other gives an error "the resolution is too high for webb format"... :(

UPDATE!

Both maps updated. I removed the grids to make them look clearer. Grids can be added via VTT programs. Cheers!

Hello!

Your maps are absolutely wonderfull, I personally love the idea that you always make 2 variants of vault maps.

However my feedback is to perhaps avoid using tokens on maps like those sentry bots on entries. Don't take me wrong, they are absolutely cool detail in map, but perhaps someone would not want to involve those robots as security of vault, and they can't be moved during combat ofc.

Btw, I am aware that there is zeppeling map, but I'm waiting for legit prydwen map from you, looking at details you have on maps it would be absolutely great.

Hey friend,

First of all, thank you for the feedback. I've always been concerned about these tokens actually. I think the same, I'd not like to see these tokens as a DM if I don't want my players to encounter it. However, since I'm only using "Robots" I thought if DMs wouldn't like to use them as hostile tokens, they can always say these robots are deactivated/mulfunctioning. But, no excuses. I think I'm not goin to use them again in my future maps.

Thanks again and hope to hear more feedback from you.

P.S. I was just too afraid to make Prydwen because it's a canon vehicle in Fallout universe and I don't know if I have all the required assets for such a masterpiece. But you make me think about it now :)

Take care and enjoy!

very nice \o/

Thanks a bunch! I really appreciate it, friend! Enjoy!
